I Hope Cotto Wins.....
Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto is set for November 14th, while the odds are stacked against Miguel Cotto I think that America's obsession with rooting for the underdog has taken its toll on myself. Miguel Cotto is of course one of my favorite boxers, and I would love for him to win. The only problem though is he may be damaged after his matchup with Antonio Margarito. Personally I think Cotto should have fought a couple good quality opponents and then faced Margarito again when his suspension was up to answer the question as to whether or not he cheated before taking the matchup with Manny Pacquiao. I'm not going to criticize Cotto I'm not a professional boxer, i'm not involved in the politics of the sport, and well of course this fight with Pacquiao brings a lot of money to the table for Miguel Cotto. This is perhaps the biggest payday of his career and one of the biggest opportunities for Miguel Cotto so of course he will take the fight. But the odds are against him: some say hes damaged goods after the Margarito fight. He suffered a bad cut over his left eye, that should play a major role in the matchup, and he has to go down to 145 pounds. Miguel Cotto is known to be very strong at 147 pounds and struggled below that weight, but hey its two pounds less but i've read here and there that Cotto has trouble even making 147 though he did make it down to 146 for his matchup with Clottey. Will that one pound make a difference? I dont know seeing that at 140 Paulie Malignaggi rocked him and Demarcus Corley stunned him I dont know with being older, and used to fighting at a higher weight class how much that will have an effect on Cotto. I even heard reports that he was training right now, the problem with that is he may grow fatigued and feel weak during the matchup that is one of the worst things a boxer can do as far as training goes is over training. Miguel Cotto is a warrior, an amazing fighter, and one of the most fun to watch. The odds are against him, but I really hope he wins it. I would like to see that dream matchup with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto though I would have loved to see it before Floyd retired the first time. This is still a good matchup I see Pacquiao as more of a threat to Floyd's throne than Cotto, but this is a matchup that all boxing fans such as me would like to see
