HBO Next Generation Boxing = Failure
HBO has been pushing their next generation of top fighters again. A couple years ago it was Jermain Taylor and Kermit Cintron who have both done very well in their careers, but have failed to generate as box office attractions. These new names include Juan Manuel Lopez, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Chad Dawson, Paul Williams, Victor Ortiz, James Kirkland, and Alfredo Angulo. You see the names on the list and wonder how is this a failure? Well Gamboa and Lopez have been fighting on mainly Top Rank Pay Per Views. Gamboa's last televised fight was actually on Showtime. Paul Williams cant seem to land a fight, but word is he's very close to signing to fight Kelly Pavlik. Victor Ortiz had a very, very dissappointing loss to Marcos Maidana a fight he should have clearly won, James Kirkland was arrested, and Alfredo Angulo just recently lost to Kermit Cintron. Chad Dawson is the only fighter in this group that is stilll winning matchups but people think that he will lose to Glen Johnson. Why is this a failure? Because HBO has gotten fighters that arent ready to compete on the level there competing on. Chad Dawson and Paul Williams are the only elite level fighters in this crop of talent. The problem is you cant promote Paul Williams is nobody is willing to fight him, and Chad Dawson seems to get worse in every match. In Chad Dawson's last matchup with Antonio Tarver (A fight nobody really wanted to see) it was supposed to be a showcase of his talent. But this matchup was somewhat boring. I understand that he was playing it safe and had to do the rematch to honor his contract rematch clause, but overall it was a boring match very little action though it had its moments. Paul Williams just beat a future hall of famer in Winky Wright. But the win isnt as gratifying because Winky hadnt been in the ring in nearly two years a win is a win but Winky just hadnt been active. What HBO has done was sign fighters who should be on ESPN to contracts they have been heavily pushing Victor Ortiz as the future of boxing. I'm pretty sure Ortiz next match will be on either ESPN or an HBO undercard. Cristabol Arreola another fighter in this crop that was not previously mentioned will be fighting for a heavyweight championship but the same case with him he's not ready! Give fighters that are ready a chance to shine on HBO fighters such as: Yuri Foreman, Sechew Powell, Amir Khan, Dmitiry Salita, Nonito Donaire, Tavouris Cloud, Yusef Mack, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Eddie Chambers, Billy Dib even Roman Greenberg and Brian Minto a chance. These men have huge followings and all these guys are ready for the spotlight and nobody is giving them a shot. Give fighters who dont really have the marketability but the following to be HBO fighters these men I mentioned have great followings in the world of boxing, and the men I named are either champions or in contention for titles. Give these men a chance rather than people who havent earned these spots yet.

Luis Barragan is antisemite and friend of Oscar De La Hoya - that's the reason HBO heavily pushed Ortiz.
ReplyDeleteRoss Greenburg is a liberal jew boy who doesn't want Salita on HBO because he thinks he is the only Jew Boy who should get paid by HBO but Salita is not a jew boy - Salita is the biggest jew in boxing, Ross Greenburg is a self hated sick jew boy
BOXING IS FINE IN NY, I KNOW THAT. THE NY GOLDEN GLOVES PRODUCED FUTURE CHAMPS LIKE EDDIE GOMEZ, TRAVIS PETERKIN, MARCUS BROWNE AND SHEMUEL PAGAN. NY BOXING IS ALIVE AND WELL.
